Then visit the George in Lower Brailes near Banbury, Oxfordshire.
The George is a sympathetically refurbished Grade II listed coaching inn.

Located above the pub, the George has five clean and bright, individually decorated bedrooms.

The George’s Village Bar is a traditional English pub bar and is used by locals and visitors. It is a place where farmers meet and walkers recover. You will meet all types here. There is also a large selection of ales from the local Hooky brewery.

The updated restaurant still has the original inglenook fireplace, stone mullion windows and some historic panels.

The room dates before 1350 when the stonemasons who built the church were housed at the inn. Outside the garden and conservatory have been re-modelled.

Bookings from walking groups are welcome – and they can leave their vehicles in the large car park before returning for a well-earned lunch.

Brailes is a large village along the B4035, between Banbury and Shipston on Stour. It has a huge variety of historic buildings to see and many fine walks.

The church site is a thousand years old and the existing building dates back to the early 1300's. Known as St. George's Church it has the second largest six bell peal in the world. The tenor bell weighs one and a half tons. Just south of the village you will find the earthworks of a medieval castle
