Welcome to The George at Brailes, a fourteenth Century coaching house in the picturesque village of Lower Brailes, nestled in the north of The Cotswolds. The George is an ideal base for exploring the area; Chipping Campden, Stow on The Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Broadway and Burford are all within short drive. The current building retains many original features; flagstone floors, inglenook fireplaces, original beams, all encased in the famous sandy Cotswold stone. Named after the church opposite, it is believed the pub was built to house the masons who constructed it. Today it serves a loyal crowd of friendly locals mixed with visitors from all over the world who all enjoy the cosy bar, intimate restaurant, large terrace and one of the largest beer gardens in the area.

The George at Brailes is renowned for its friendly, casual atmosphere where locals and visitors enjoy drinks and conversations like old friends.
The bar serves a range of Hook Norton Ales, two draft lagers and ciders and the best pint of Guinness in the area. Situated only five minutes from the now world famous Cotswold Distillery we also stock a wide range of its spirits.

The George at Brailes is a great starting and finishing point for some lovely walks through the local Cotswold countryside.
The village is surrounded by 27 miles of public footpaths. With our large car park we are the perfect place to meet and start your ramble and why not join us for a cold drink and light lunch after your walk.
We have two large maps here featuring popular walks if you haven't already planned your route.

We also cater for events; weddings celebrations, wakes, society meetings and we have our very own marquee which can hold 50 seated guests in our large beer garden with views of the church spire and rolling Cotswold hills beyond.
